The state reports only 11 certified LPGA teaching professionals outside the Salt Lake City-Ogden-Provo corridor, creating bottlenecks for skill verification required by scholarship applications. Existing youth programs concentrate at private clubs that charge fees exceeding $800 per season.
Infrastructure and Workforce Constraints
Broadband coverage drops below 60 percent in the seven southeastern counties, complicating online application submissions. The program therefore accepts paper forms postmarked to the Utah System of Higher Education and partners with county extension offices for document scanning.
Readiness Requirements
Applicants must provide proof of Utah residency for 12 consecutive months, high-school transcripts, and golf involvement logs signed by a course superintendent or PGA professional.
