Summary

This grant provides funding of over $2 million annually for charitable work across selected U.S. regions, with more than 280 grants awarded in the most recent year. It is designed for nonprofit organizations (501(c)(3) status) rather than for-profits or individuals. The eligible regions include communities within about a dozen metro areas (for instance parts of Arizona, Texas, California, the Pacific Northwest, Florida and others) where the sponsoring organization has a presence and giving committees. The intent is to support causes such as youth development, veteran and military support, hunger and nutrition, and other community basic-needs programs.


Qualified nonprofits in those regions may apply at specific quarterly deadlines. The fund is aimed at helping organizations deepen impact in their local community—whether that be strengthening programs for children, supporting veterans, addressing food insecurity or responding to disasters and emergencies. In one year the foundation also issued emergency grants (for example about $40,000) for disaster relief across a wider geographic area. While the amount awarded to each organization varies, past awards have ranged into the tens of thousands of dollars.


The overall benefit is dual-fold: nonprofits receive unrestricted or program-specific funds to expand or sustain key work in their communities, and deepens its community engagement across many regions.
